Currently looking into this as an ICE powerplant. www.hydrapneu.com.au/punsun_engines/horizontal/Gotta see what the legal ramifications are for installing it in a road vehicle. I think some guys from www.dieselbike.net/phpBB-2.0.21/phpBB2/ have imported this engine and are using it. (checking on it) *** Looks like this engine cannot be legally used on the road. There may be ways around it, but to be on the "up and up", I pass. Too bad, it looks like a good deal too.

FYI This 22HP diesel is apparently available in the USA a1biofuel.net They also are listing a 25HP but looking over the specks I like the 22HP you list better

Oops forgot to mentioned the listed price of $1295 The web also lists US motor cycle conversions so I'm hoping this will be accepted for a trike like the XR3

Something to consider...you have to make sure it is legal to use in a motor operated vehicle. When I was looking into this motor, they didn't convince me that I could be provided with the documents needed to get it through customs to use on the street. If this is already in the USA, it may be easier to put in the vehicle. Ask questions before you buy a motor that cannot be legally used.

Vmrod: You appear to be using an Electric Motor upfront to drive through the VW transmission. How have you gone about designing and fabricating the adapter plate etc. to do this? I ask this because if I settle for the Punsun V-Twin I am going to have a similar problem to deal with. The other problem I see is that the Punsun is secured at its base to the chassis, which could cause a problem with ensuring it lines up with the transmission -- Your expertise and insight would be appreciated Thanks

I currently have an adaptor plate sitting in place that I thought I could use, but probably will not. It is for a corvair engine to a vw tranny. I came across (can't remember where at the moment) a site that offered an adaptor plate and coupling set, that was made for mating a 9"DC motor to a VW tranny. It was about $300. I will likely get that. That way, there is no fabbing for me. Just bolt and enjoy. I need to verify the bolting pattern for the Impulse 9, that way, I could use either that or a Warp 9. Right now, I am not 100% sure that I will go with the Netgain Warp 9. The Impulse 9 appeals to me, but only because of the shorter length of the motor. I like the torque and efficiency that the Warp 9 offers over the Impulse 9, but along comes a few extra inches. I don't like the thought of the motor shaft sticking so far out front. If I run into something, even lightly, I could incur more expensive damage than just light body work. If I knew the Impulse would be a performance motor for me, I would go for it. Now, something that I have not explored would be the use of 2 smaller motors. Either 2 8" motors or 2 7" motors. I might look into that. If you need a dxf made or something, then send me a P.M. with the measurements. The Punsun can be ordered with a tranny too, it might be good to just get the whole package, then fit it into your chassis. If all you are doing is thinking of powertrain options right now, I would say go ahead and start chassis construction. There is not much that would need to be altered if you wanted a different powertrain. You would need an additional bracket here or there, but by then, that would be a cake-walk for you.
