I'll be converting a '72 Opel to full electric soon. This will give me something to drive while the XR3 body is getting built. Adapter plate and motor coupler getting designed. Should be easy after these 2 items are done. Front bumper needs tweaking, as does a couple other areas. Otherwise looks good. I'm pretty sure that it does not turn into a transformer, but I could be wrong. Will be nice to get this stuff out of the compartment. I plan on designing the adaptor plate as 2 parts, so I can swap out to the Transwarp 11, if I choose to.

The shipping company should be picking it up on Monday (or sooner).
I've also lined up the perfect DC-DC converter that can fulfill any voltage input I need.
Come wit it!

Work has still not started!
I have the car, and the signed title, but need a notarized bill of sale before I can put it in my name. (it is in the mail now)
If it comes in today or tomorrow, there's a chance I can put it in my name and have it inspected.
The conversion will begin soon. I'm itchin!

Looks in pretty awesome shape! Are you planning AGM or LiFePO4 packs?

I plan on using the same Lifetech, LiFePO4 cells that I used on the trike, but a different BMS. The car passed inspection yesterday, now I'm ready to start the conversion. Gentlemen, start your engines!

A total of 7 hours was spent, removing the ICE components from the Opel. The motor is still in there, but all mounting bolts have been removed. It is ready to be pulled. The exhaust, fuel lines, radiator, battery, and other stuff is gone. Another 3 hours and the gas tank was removed. After spending time with mock-up batteries inside the area, it looks like a 168V-45AH pack will easily fit where the gas tank used to sit. By being creative, I can likely place another 168V-15AH in the adjacent area. Bottom line, most, if not all batteries can be placed in the rear compartment. Proper weight distribution will be the deciding factor. Just a little more to go, before I can start cleaning and painting the engine compartment.

The Opel project is being cancelled.
The machinist messed up the large adaptor plate, and will look at options to fix it. I'm tired of waiting on this. The nice part of the year is over with, now the super hot weather is here.
Make me an offer for the Opel. It is a very nice car ready to be converted!

Allright, after a trip to the machinist, he showed me a viable fix for the mess-up.
I am proceeding with the machining work, and will likely continue the Opel project.

After almost 3 months, the parts are just about ready. I have seen the pieces, and must say that the machinist does incredible work. It is incredible slow, but the great quality will be remembered long after the wait. I should be getting the parts on Friday. If it is not scorching hot outside, I might see what I can do on the car this weekend.
